Empires - Add new Ranks

I think Empires could use some additional ranks beyond what we have.  This can help empires recognize some more dedicated members, and add some more distinction among the ranks.

For example... a Veteran, and/or Elite member position.

    Great idea Rhastar2!

     

    I would recommend expanding the role of General to allow General's to declare war.  This is a very trusted position and would help the empire stay active (and respond to war fees) if the Emperor is temporarily away but didn't want to give up the position of Emperor.

     

    I suggest Commander title be added as a rank above Soldier.  This rank requires being a Soldier rank for 7 days to be promoted.  If it gave a bonus in the wars (maybe +1000 hp/mp?) it would add an interesting twist and allow for some more strategy for defending in wars.

    Ranks via time requirement promotions is definitely something to be considered and added in the future. Also, i'm ot too sure if I personally am a fan of the HP/MP buff simply because for me it throws off the raw pvp element of ppls base chars in war.  

    As far as Generals declaring war, I think that might be suited for a position that could be considered something like the 'Hand of the Emperor'.  This will also helps if something happens to a Emperor like a lost ipod, banning, scandal, etc.  The reason I say just one position is because I could see issues arising if 6 people had the power to declare war - especially with the guaranteed lapses in communication and chaos that might follow.  This would just be some added features that would be fun but not necessary. 

    The extra Ranks would definitely add to the game and be easy to implement!

    Promoting a new citizen to mercenary need some delay. Maybe 6-12 hours and emperor must pay gold/silver for promoting fee

    I think the Mercenary system in place now works great for wars.  Adding a 6-12hr lag and fee would give a serious imbalance of power to some larger empires.

    Currently, there are two large power blocks with multiple treaties with smaller empires in game. If I have an unaligned empire with 500 Power and say 5 active members there is nothing to stop me from attacking or being attacked by another 500 Power empire who receives 40+ mercenaries just for the war. I think lag time would actually hamper a larger empire's ability to throw its weight around at lower levels. However this would discourage involvement in war; I would rather the ranks beyond Mercenary have a time limit and gold/silver requirement (gold/silver required to promote should increase based on empire size and members) to promote members beyond Mercenary. I think you should make it so the ranks actually do something for members of empires. Maybe each rank boosts combat efficiency 10%, 20% etc. This would actually make loyalty to an empire count for something. It would also add value to the promotion since it cost something. The cost would also help even the playing field. If a larger empire used its members to help a smaller empire demolish another smaller member, it's helpers could return but it would be vulnerable to attack by its peers with more Soliers and upper ranked members. Of course, this is meaningless since War Protection cards are use nonstop. Almost every empire uses War Protection cards to avoid having a massive war fee levied against the empire and potentially expensive building losses. I think you should make a War Counter card that allows an empire to attack another empire that is protected by a War Protection Card but limits the fee to 10% of the defending empire's treasury minimum 1000 silver. Make wars drop gem chests, add new rewards for battle badges, and make gold keys drop rarely in battle. This would add value to new ranks and increase play of the game since war is a major reason people play and it doesn't really exist anymore...

    I can relate better to what you two were saying now via your view on Mercenaries, and it makes sense.  Definitely some interesting ideas on the war card too, i like it
