SUGGESTION: St. Patrick Day EVENT!

Dear Kos and Lakoo friends,

Thanks for a great Chinese New Year event!  I love how it offers desirable rewards that are not too easy and not too hard to get!  Having different boss fights for different level brackets is a great idea to keep things rewarding and fun for players of all levels!!

If you don’t have anything planned for March, I want to suggest a St. Patrick Day (or week) EVENT!!  This is a great time for friends to celebrate together about magic, imagination, and of course, good luck.

In the event, you help a Leprechaun retrieve his silver back from a Greedy 3-Headed Dragon.  After defeating the boss, you steal the Dragon Chest.  Now, do you feel lucky and open it for a chance to win +2 gems, 1-50 silver, time limit and permanent event loot, and a chance for a legendary Blue Dragon pet?  Test your luck by giving the Dragon Chest back to the Leprechaun who said he would reward you with a Pot of Gold!! Of course, being a crafty fellow he didn’t say how much gold was in it!  Maybe you will get only 1, 10, 50, or a lucky 5,000 gold!

Event Loot:

Lucky Charm [amulet, +7 critical, +7% mp, +77 magic]

Four-Leaf Clover Crown [helm, +4 critical, +4% hp, +400 range, look: green garland headband]

Fairy Wings [cloak, +10 critical, +10% speed, +10% dodge, look: fairy wings on back]

Leprechaun Suit (male/female) [fashion, +7 critical, look: green Leprechaun Suit]

Pan’s Fife [blowpipe, 1-500 damage range, +10% curse hit, +100 magic, -15% dodge]

Blue Dragon [dragon pet, talent target assist +2000 melee defense for 2 round]

Ninja Suit [fashion, +10 agi, +5% dodge]

Rationale aka Sales Pitch:

Ok, the events have been great!  However, with the silver system not working for the majority of players, there is a serious shortage of silver in the game.  Naturally, players convert gold into silver to participate in your awesome reward chances from events (which would be nice to have in this one as well, it is a good feature).  Most players I run into can’t buy silver and have already downloaded all the free gold apps in the Tapjoy system.  Maybe it’s just me, but it feels like nobody can really trade because no one wants to risk an item swap due to scamming, and very few players have enough gold to buy high rarity items.

I think the potential (very, VERY rare) for players to get a large gold reward would not only encourage participation, but would more importantly put a little gold back into the game to free up trading.  It would also keep people interested in the game because some folks feel like they will never get enough gold to buy parts for the set they have been working toward.  The silver would help beginning players learn how to use silver and maybe get them interested in buying once the silver system is working again.

The event items are all Leprechaun theme (except the Ninja suit which is just darn cool ;).  I’d like to see the Four-Leaf Clover Crown because I think range folks could use a little extra damage without needing the full Surifen suit.  The Fairy Wings should be easy to make (not to mention gosh-darn cool) and I’ve argued for a lv30 cloak for awhile.  The Leprechaun Suit…well because the female one would be sexy ;) We need more blowpipes because there really aren’t many and this could be used by wizard/archer hybrids.  Did I mention the Ninja Suit?

Thanks for listening and keep up the great work!

Cheers,

Alleluia

    Thanks dj!

You guys do really neat work and have an amazing game! I know it isn’t practical to adopt every suggestion, but I love how you listen.  Who knows maybe a suggestion will inspire an idea later on even if it isn’t used right away.

The format for the different level players on the Chinese New Year event was the best yet.  I might suggest an enhancement for future events to build teamwork and fun. The lower quests were well done and only needed maybe one or two higher level to help win.  This is perfect to help people make friends while not making it too hard to get help.

However, in order to make the rewards worthwhile for the upper level players, quests correctly tend to take a lot of time to complete and need around 5 good lv55 characters.  I’d suggest making a repeatable quest that drops a separate reward item.  This would allow a chance to get a reward for all the helpful players who spend a lot of time helping without getting anything for it.  It would also encourage players who maybe normally don’t help, to join in and make friends because they may get a reward for spending their time helping.

For example, if you do decide to make a St Patrick Day EVENT, you could make an NPC called Spry Old Man.  He would offer an assist quest (that could be repeated) for each of the boss events and separate from them with no prerequisites.  Instead of a lv36 player waiting for hours trying to get someone to help out because his friends are not online or a team of 4 lv55s spending hours looking for another 1 party member, you would add an incentive that would make it potentially more rewarding for a stranger to team up and help.  In this case, the Spry Old Man would give a Blessed Helper Bag (maybe a second version of the quest giving 2 or 3 Blessed Helper Bags for helping on the harder and longer 50+ level quest).  Maybe it will only contain only 1 or 2 copper (after all it wasn’t that hard and maybe the person had selfish motives for helping ;), but lucky players may get a title “Generous Heart” or “Saint.”  They could also get an ultra-rare pet, Will ‘O Wisp.  This reminds me of an old English fairy tale about a magical old man who helps a kind young boy achieve his dreams because he took time to help the old man without looking for any reward.  The reward would be very rare and wouldn’t be worth people repeating quests over and over just to get it, but it would offer a chance for kind people who spend a lot of time helping to get a reward for all their time.  I know there are a few really helpful players who take time to help others even though they have already done the quests and I think it would it would be cool to reward and encourage such admirable behavior!

    Event Loot:

Will ‘O Wisp [fairy pet modified, talent: assist skill use of Hiding on master for 2 rounds and -10% mp, look: fairy pet with translucent appearance and a faint pale blue hue]

    As always, thanks for listening!

Oh, another feature I think would be neat is a Wee Folk Smithy.  She would accept 100,000 copper for a 1 hour pass (maybe like a pass to the trade post) to try to forge a player’s legend equipment into super rare event equipment.  Maybe you could make her like a Store NPC and have it recognize when a legend item is sold.  Instead of getting copper, the player gets a chance for legend item.

Maybe it would be too hard to program.  But if it could be done, I think it would be neat to allow people to recycle legend items that nobody seems to want to buy.  I know I have a few legend items that I don’t plan on ever using but that I just can’t bring myself to sell for only a few thousand copper.  This would be a good way to help balance supply and demand in the game.  Items that nobody wants will be recycled and will encourage people to buy silver to open a gold chest without complaining anymore.  I mean, if I get a Grim Crown now that I know I can’t sell in the trade post and will never use, I will be quite happy because I can convert it at a future event for a chance for unique loot.

Each event could have a similar NPC and would offer different and unique items for a successful forging.

    Event Loot:

Lucky Ring [ring, +15 critical, +77mp]

Elven Rainbow Garb [cloak lv30, +700 mp, +15 dex, look: dark moon cloak modified so shifting rainbow colors]

Unicorn Jouster [spear lv30, +15 str, +1500 hp, look: pearly spire with long unicorn like horn tip]

Unlucky Ogre Broadsword [two hand sword lv50, 150-900 damage, +35% melee, +1000 hp, +25% dex, -10 critical, look: big black sword like Royal Sword with jagged edges]

Mithril Blade [one hand sword lv20 (no sockets), +35 critical, +20 dex, +50 speed, look: silver blade with permanent blue flash similar to yellow socket 7 gem effect]

    Leprechaun’s Shoes [shoes, +7 critical, +70 speed]

    Rationale aka Sales Pitch:

We need new rings and I think the Lucky Ring would be popular and useful at all levels.  Again, lv30 cloaks would be cool and this would hold interest at players who maybe haven’t quite gotten to lv55 yet.  A spear that gives some health like the Unicorn Jouster would make spear builds a little healthier while not packing as much punch as an option.  We really, really (really ;) need another two-handed sword.  Every two-hand sword build uses the Royal Sword.  Maybe a sword without as much damage but with some health and dex like the Unlucky Ogre Broadsword would appeal to tanker builds.  Finally, many players would like to have a glow effect but don’t bother socketing until final gear because they will be replaced in a few levels.  Perhaps a mid-level sword with a build-in blue glow is sure to be a collectible.  We all wear shoes and it’s really hard to find one with a good effect.

Thanks again for listening!  I hope you don’t mind all the info.  If any of it is helpful, great!  If not, at least it gives me a chance to share some ideas :)

    Cheers,

    Alleluia

Ooooo I love the ideas and item rewards suggested! But I think they are a little overpowered lol especially the part were you have 1500hp for a lvl30 spear. Mhm I would love for lots of new items but I would prefer it if they are fashionable ones with stats comparable to the stats of already existing in-game items =) That will make things fair for everyone! Don't have alot of items that add critical in-game and the only few pieces that come to my mind are dark crusade, ping ba legs and thor cloak only for armors and capes =(

The st patrick day event could give out the items with crit stats like you suggested! =D Nice ideas! I love them!

Thanks Zenny~!  Good point about overpowered.  Haha I think you are right.  I'm not so good on balancing gear stats.  Lakoo can do that part because they are much better at it than me.  I'd love to see an option for a a healthier spearman though (maybe +500 health or does that sound too high?).  Thanks for the feedback!
